IR Legal Welcomes Karina McDougall as Consulting Principal

We are delighted to introduce Karina to the IR Legal Team.

Karina brings more than 22 years of legal experience across commercial law, intellectual property, franchising, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution, and commercial and general litigation. Throughout her career, she has worked with clients of all sizes, from individuals and small businesses to large organisations, across both top-tier law firms and in-house legal roles.

Her extensive background also includes serving as a Senior Legal Advisor for a national finance company and a leading technology company, where she was appointed ANZ Privacy Officer, giving her valuable insight into the complex regulatory and compliance challenges faced by modern businesses.

Karina is highly experienced in:
• Commercial and general litigation
• Dispute resolution, mediation and settlement negotiations
• Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
• Franchising and intellectual property agreements
• Regulatory compliance including trade practices, AML/CTF, privacy and data security

Known for her clear, practical and commercially focused advice, Karina works closely with clients to develop sound legal strategies that achieve strong outcomes while remaining cost-effective.

Karina holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Technology Sydney, a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney, and a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice. She is admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
