IR Legal supports the launch of the Parent Boost Visa, a new immigration pathway introduced by the New Zealand Government, opening on 29 September 2025. This landmark initiative aims to reunite families and acknowledge the vital role migrants play in shaping New Zealand’s future.
The Parent Boost Visa is a multi-entry visa that allows the parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to visit and stay in New Zealand for up to five years, subject to meeting eligibility requirements.
This is a long-awaited and welcome step toward family reunification.
Key Features of the Parent Boost Visa:
Stay in New Zealand for up to 5 years
Sponsored by a New Zealand citizen or resident who earns at least the median wage, or joint sponsors earning 1.5x the median wage
Meet health and character requirements
Hold and maintain comprehensive health insurance
Show financial self-sufficiency or income in line with NZ Superannuation rates
Applications open on 29 September 2025
